I love Liberty Tana lawn!
I used 10cm zipper: It is small but it is worthwhile to work with this small zipper!
Finished!
This blog to share the idea and what Mariko is making everyday life.

Our new Zori (Japanese old-fashioned shoes) wallet
From the right side, it could look like just footwear and actually it is a wallet. It is also good to keep some private things in this wallet because people would have no clue whether it is shoe or wallet!! The zipper is just 10cm long! The shortest zipper we can find in the world.
This wallet will be out not too far from now.

A bit of oriental taste!
This big tapestry was finished today by one of my students. Great job done around those curvy lines although we often find it very difficult to saw.
The assembly of the fabrics has a good Japanese taste too.

Endo Noriko's Confetti Naturescapes: Amazing
We had a great time with Noriko Endo at a restaurant nearby Fitzroy where Australasian Quilt Convention was held. She was invited as a special guest lecturer by Expertise Events all the way from Japan!
Her newest released book: Confetti Naturescapes is just amazing, demonstrating her innovative quilting methods and detail description about nature. We are truly impressed with her expression in each detail.
She travels throughout the world to teach her innovative idea. If you have not attended her classes yet, you surely should go to her class to find how unique and fantastic her quilting is.

Country fair in Kumamoto Japan: new Shikaku bag
A month ago, I exhibited at a small craft fair in Kumamoto (my hometown in Japan).
For this show, I made a new bag with Kaffe fasset. This is a new version of Shikaku Bag.
For this show, I made a new bag with Kaffe fasset. This is a new version of Shikaku Bag.
Compare with our popular original Shikaku bag.
What do you think?
The above is slightly diffrent compred to the original Shikaku bag, using less squares with a little bit sharp triangle kind of shape. It sits well when you put it on somewhere flat.
Who wants us to sell the kits for new version of Shikaku Bag?
Please let us know your opinon. Your opinion counts.

What I brought back from Australia
As I probably mentioned before. I spend most of my time in Japan, running my little patchwork shop and teaching quilting.
I come to Australia about three times in a year for big craft shows. In 2012, I have been to AQC (Melbourne), Sydney Craft and Quilt. Now I am looking forward to going to Brisbane in October.
One of the most exciting things for me is shopping at craftshows. Have a look what I bought there and broung back to Japan.
Are they familiar to you?
I love craftshows in Australia. I always come back to Japan with new inspiration!

Hello.
My name is Mariko Ikeda. I have been running Patchwork Studio Mariko for 20 years in Kumamoto, Japan.. I assume that most of people have not heard of the name of the city.. My shop is located in down the south in Japan..
I have been visiting to Melbourne, Australia since 2004 annually. I have been exhibiting at Australisian Quilt Convention (AQC) every year since 2004.

I have met lovely people in Melbourne and kept creating great connection with people out there.
Melbourne is the one of the most greatest places that I have visited so far..
I wish to re-connect with the people I met again although I am physically very far from Australia.. I will upload a lot of my quilt works as well. Stay tuned.
